****

So, I am working on a story and need a name for a pet snake.  I’ve come up with a short list of names and would like readers’ input.  Which do you prefer for a yellow and white/albino python found in a forest setting during summer vacation?

How Many LIKES Does It Take to Get…

****

…someone to actually respond to something I write and/or request?

I doubt any owl or turtle can help solve this one.

But, I am dying to know what good it does to LIKE a request post and never follow up with input.  Is that the equivalent of “I’ll get back to ya” in all things LIKE-able?  Wherever you can LIKE something, there good intentions sit ineffectively.

What am I talking about (if you don’t already understand or see what posts of mine fit this description)?  I’ve posted inquiries and minor “contests” which might get one response if I am lucky.

So, go ahead and LIKE this post when you see/read it.  Add it to your bulletin board like one more autumn leaf waiting to fall among the clutter.   It’s only worth a fraction of a something to the host site that accepts your “clicks” like currency.  And, who doesn’t want to make this place richer while not making a dime?

Blurred Text? Help, please.

*****

I wake up to find my laptop computer suffering a case of crimped text. It’s like the letters are blurring and squishing together in places.  It’s sort of like when you adjust the size of things on the screen by holding Control and scrolling, but when I try that, other letters turn funny.  I thought it might just be the site, but it’s not.

I haven’t made any major changes to anything in a while.  I just keep working on my usual simple text and art projects.  I didn’t get time, yet, to do any extensive research into this. But, I did see various pages on this happening with different versions of Windows; so it seems common enough.  Yet, the pages I glanced over were dated over a year ago; and I don’t know if that matters.

Any advice/help would be appreciated.

Astrology Question, Re: Rooster and Rabbit

*****

Okay, all you astrologically inclined people in WordPress-land.  I need your input.

Let’s say you have a Rabbit year paired with a Rooster year of compatible elements, with an 18 year age difference and the following favorable signs:  Sun, Venus and Mars are all very compatible with my signs.

Is this a favorable match even if Rooster and Rabbit are said to be trouble together?  Or, does the warning remain the same?

Also, if the Rabbit and Rooster are compatible elements and Venus and Mars are a hot match…but her Sun doesn’t sit well with his Sun/Moon…can this relationship still work?

Would All of the Shirley MacLaine Fans…

*****

…please sign the guest book?  😛  There is no official guest book.  But, I am a bit amazed at how popular that post is becoming.  I am wondering what about it is drawing so many?  Is it an interest in Shirley?  Her body of work?  Or, the poetry I spun with my letter to her?  I must satiate this curiosity!  So, readers, do speak out when you visit.  Voice/Write your interest.

Eye Think Eye Am Going to Cry

*****

The hits keep coming.

So, I’ve been having trouble reading off and on for a few months, I think.  Every so often, I see double or have trouble focusing.  I usually chalk it up to overuse and try to take more breaks to rest my eyes.

I can’t remember exactly when I had my last eye exam, but I was told I would need a weaker prescription (which sounded odd) until I MIGHT need bifocals in a few years.

Now, I wake up this morning, and, as I am sitting at the PC, I find my eyes crossing a bit as they have been the past few days…or maybe weeks?  I am not sure.  I tried putting one hand over each eye as a test.  My left eye is clear…but the right is a bit blurry.  And, as I lower my right eyelid, I notice a dark oval.  I looked in a mirror and could see a yellow area near the top of the iris.

Please, don’t tell me…

But, if you reader(s) know what this means, do tell your diagnosis and any suggestions of how to remedy the problem (preferably without surgery).

I am really racking up the problems this year…and it’s bringing me down to the breaking point.  It’s really hard getting up every morning and feeling like socializing with anyone.  I feel hideous.

Writingbolt down!…again!

Who knows how to check the condition of and stabilize/immobilize a big toe?

I reaaaaally don’t want to see a doctor this week…or in the near future.  I was just getting used to my robotic arm.

Short story even shorter, I was chasing a nephew who was misbehaving outdoors, and I stumbled down a driveway like Humpty Dumpty or Jack sans Jill.  I didn’t break my crown.  But, my one big toe hurts on the side that touches the other toe when it moves.  It flexes okay…not perfectly.  Of course, it could be in shock.  I don’t detect any broken bones.  Just pain.  No swelling.  No blood or bruising.

On top of that, I skinned both knees reaaaal good, tore holes in my pants and gave my nephew a nice scrape on his forehead.  And, then I get the endless guilt trip from family.  Yea, that’s helping me stick with this babysitting job.  Don’t worry about my condition; I’ll just walk it off til I am doing cartwheels.

So….great day so far.  Yep.

*******

Update:  Toes are in homemade pine coffins.  Thursday evening, I found a nice one-inch purple bruise beneath the nail of the big toe.  It looked like a strip of tape.  I will put up with my toes stinking and bathe the hospital safety way for at least a few days.

Knees are stiff from scabbing and complex bandages…but functioning.

And, WHY are random strangers LIKE-ing and FOLLOW-ing this post but saying nothing?  Two days later, and not a single bit of advice other than not waiting too long to see a doctor.  Nice.  Take plenty of pictures, they will last as long as everything else posted on “the cloud.”  [Speaking of photos, I did take some of my nasty feet.  But, I will not be sharing them.]

******

Update 11-13-2015:  Right knee seems fine aside from small healing patch about the size of a quarter, a bit raw from occasionally resting on knee while babysitting.  Left knee appears to be sticking to the bandage, again. I trust the scab and bandage will both loosen up together…or I’ll have to do some tear and repair work on that one (eek).

I took the “coffin” off the big toe.  I am not sure if my left foot always was, but it seems a quarter inch wider than the right one.  There is a thin line of red/blue bruising below the big toe nail and a “blobbish” blue/purple bruise along the right side of the toe about 1 1/2 inches long and 1/8 inch wide.  Flexing seems improved.  The only pain I experience is when I twist or bend the toe to one side.  [Could there still be a hairline fracture or nerve soreness/damage?]

So, it’s only been one week.  I am putting the “coffin” back on and resuming restricted movement during the days I am out and about/working.

What? Who? Is “Ferlindo”?

Help me out here, people.  I was watching this corny and very dated yet wonderful to watch old 70s game show, Celebrity Bowling, and there was an episode featuring Lois Nettleton (who among other roles was Mrs. Enright, the mom who catches George eating out of the garbage on Seinfeld) wearing a white T-shirt bearing the word “FERLINDO.”  Now, if I am right, this same word or name appeared in an episode of Benny Hill when a woman harassed by men on a bus stop turns into a green she-hulk.

Does ANYONE know what this FERLINDO is/means?

PS I did a quick online search and came up with nothing so far.
