A Fatal Choice -Which Do You Choose?-

***

Let’s say you enter this life and have two choices of how to live.

A) You survive until you are 60 to 110 years old but are doomed to die from a plague sweeping the planet which ultimately touches nearly every person like mold on pumpkins. Your life expectancy is a blend of genetics and whatever man-made products you put into yourself which keep you going as long as you can…as well as bringing you down in the end.

B) You sign a contract or invest in the necessary equipment (sort of like paying for college and all that goes with it to get a degree) to transfer your “doomed” human identity into a machine supplied by a monopolizing company already spreading its financial cloak of dominance over the planet. However many years and however you live those years as a human being are inconsequential; as you will join the collective hive/mind of billions of other robots who bought into this “life insurance plan.”

Which would you choose?

Or, do the prospects of both make you wish you were never born?

[More on that philosophy in a near-future post.]

Just answer the question. Don’t LIKE or star this for later and forget about it or pass it on. And, if it’s not too much trouble, explain your answer/decision; what makes you choose that path?

We Come in Peace-suit of Taking Your Planet

We’re pursuing space exploration and migration…er, domination of other worlds (like the very aliens we’re told to fear in movies) yet we don’t have ideal control of/peace on our own present home world. What sense does this make?

When we think of air travel these days, we run into little warnings of immunizations and all sorts of other concerns we should take before venturing even on what is supposed to be a pleasant but temporary holiday/vacation. Why do I get the feeling there are far less concerns about venturing into deep space and recreating the Native American massacre and/or African enslavement just for the satisfaction of some restless humans with a closet case of claustrophobia? I’m not entirely content with what’s going on here on Earth, myself. But, I don’t think it’s at all wise or sensible to just start pouring all this money and resources into chasing a hoop dream on some other planet which is surely occupied by those content to have a planet without invaders.

Most importantly we must NOT repeat our past mistakes (as mentioned above if you missed them). Otherwise, our disgusting aspects won’t just be an Earth problem/bad memory. They’ll be a galactic one. I, for one, have no desire to live out the clone wars, the dawn of the terminator/machine or any number of dystopian/bleak/frightening possibilities our strange minds invent. And, I’d rather interact with other species peacefully. But, presently, humanity is unable to do that as the dominant species of this world.

Let’s clean up our mess and make what we have liveable. When that happens, I’m sure other space travelers who aren’t hampered by past vices will be happy to greet and interact with us. Or, we’ll avoid bringing our diseases–hopefully–to other worlds.

What about you, reader? What’s your take on this?

Chronic Christmas Syndrome, Seasonal Madness

Do you suffer from CCS? Chronic Christmas Syndrome?

There is a sickness here growing across the western hemisphere, an obsession with Christmas music which causes those afflicted to play it for three or more months in a year, eradicating the value of all other holidays and contributing to holiday decorations remaining stapled to the house months after the holiday season ends. These folks don’t suffer from winter/holiday depression. They THRIVE upon the “spirit” of Christmas and shove it down everyone else’s throats like retail store chains, turning the season of giving into the season of impulse shopping, road rage and trampling your fellow human being to get the not-so-big bargain of the week. All for the glory of the economy and those guys and gals who applaud opening the stock market every day for whatever reason.

If you live somewhere tropical, it could drive you mad with envy of those who have snow. If you live somewhere snowy during winter…and you’re really sick of looking at all the “dead” sleeping trees and traversing the ice and snow which can be genuine hazards yearly…not to mention the freezing cold which is rather unpleasant and can be as harmful to the body/skin as summer heat…you don’t need to hear sleigh bells for more than a month. Especially if you’ve ever spent a significant amount of time in a shopping mall or retail store.

In short, where is the autumn appreciation? This is like using sunglasses to stir soup or sticking freshly grown flowers in the freezer. Don’t ask me how I came up with those two. But, those of you with CCS are killing Autumn George by playing Christmas music before Thanksgiving is said and done. If Christmas George and Autumn George meet, the universe will surely collapse.
