Short Story Writing Challenge: Tell-Tale Silhouettes

carmensandiego-ish-silhouette-circle-10pk_ap-CSPP-mini-2

****

I had the impulse to craft some Carmen-Sandiego-ish, Dick-Tracy-ish silhouettes one day. Here is a sampler.

I propose a small creative writing challenge to those who happen to stop by this post. Can you conceive a short story that takes our female detective/explorer from the first image on the left to the last image on the right? Where did she go that day? What happened along the way? And, what did she discover at the end?

Place your (very) short story here in the comment section. [You won’t be glared at for writing a long one, either.]

Help Me Think of Names!

****

And, get famous (whenever I publish) by having YOUR name (or a pen name you supply for yourself) worked into my latest book (project).  You could wind up a primary character, opposite the protagonist(s), a neighbor, CEO, taxi driver or police officer, for example.

The names I direly need are LAST/FAMILY names.  So, go nuts combining letters, words and/or sounds to get something special.

I am looking for:

  1. A name that incorporates the word “BUN.”  BUN could be any part of the name, start, finish or middle.
  2. A name that incorporates the word “TRESS” or “TRES.”
  3. A name that incorporates the word “LOCKE” or “LOCH.”
  4. A combination of three names (female first, female middle and last/family) that create a word or name with the initials.  IE Jane Ellen Trisket = JET

Submit your ideas to my mailbox (on the contact page) or in the comment section below.

Get brainstorming.

Pokemania! Stay Tuned

*****

Yes, Pokemania.  Pokemon mania.  My one nephew and I are going Poke-crazy.  Just today we were drumming up new creatures aplenty.  This all started about a month ago when I learned about the 20th anniversary (this Saturday).  But, it’s been taking all sorts of shapes over the weeks.

I am just alerting you all who venture here to get cracking/thinking about old and new Pokemon.   My mind is an amazing thing.  It comes up with these creatures and then discovers them already in the Pokemon index (or Pokedex).  But, after this recent experience with my nephew, I am more motivated than ever to create.

So, if you will join me, I am proposing a challenge of sorts.  Invent your own Pokemon, its number, abilities, terrain of origin, etc.  Work it up as much as you like and then make comment of it here or in my upcoming post which will feature some my nephew and I conceived.  Let’s see what you can come up with before the end of March.

And, stay tuned.

No Yod Will Ever Bring Me Down

*****

wizardme-wickedspoof-song-darker_ap2015-5J
Yesterday, I got a lil dramatic over a minor detail that sneaked under a fingernail like a splinter. I may have blown the necessary concern for the new/old information to cross my astrology desk. Yet, I feel as if something is coming. And, as much as I’d like to thank people for being part of this life, I am not sure what really matters and what is just…well, like a figment of the imagination or wasted words/energy in the whirlpool that is the end of everything we think we know exists.

So…to rise above all of that, I am going to be a little more dramatic and run with a song that keeps getting stuck in my head thanks to constant commercials for the theater production.

Sing along.

Me: So if you care to find me…LOOOOK to the WESTERN skyyy! No yod that is or ever was is ever going to briiing meee doooooown!!!

You: We hope you’re haaappyyy!
[Translation: We hope you can work out your own problems or get help elsewhere.]

Me: Ah-AH-Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
[Translation: What?! You’re just going to sit there and watch?! You all suck!]

You: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
[Translation: Sorry. Life’s too short to get involved with you.]

And, scene.
